Open Letter from the NAHA Board

2006 PRO HILLCLIMB SERIES

Dear competitors, promoters and fans:

Thank you for supporting an exceptional 2005 Hillclimb season. We as a board are honored to represent the best and most respected Hillclimbers and promoters in the sport, and are very proud to sanction the most competitive and prestigious Professional Hillclimb series in the World.

Many changes were made in 2005 with a focus on professionalism, refinement, and a general goal of moving our competitors, promoters and our sport to the next level in the world of extreme motorsports. This was a bold move in a sport that has resisted change and has had no significant growth in many years, however the enthusiasm and excitement that was generated throughout the season as our vision unfolded, has brought a reality to what can be accomplished. We are committed as a board to continue to support the growth of our sport through our competitors and promoters, seeking and utilizing input from them and many other sources to achieve our goals. 2006 will bring additional changes and refinement based on what we learned in 05, and here is how it will look.

1) Ken Faught, former editor of Dirt Rider Magazine and current      Director of Public Relations for Team Makita Suzuki has been hired to implement the most aggressive marketing campaign in the history of Motorcycle Hillclimbing. He is extremely enthused, and has been working with our promoters and a group of riders since early December to prepare for the 06 season in what he believes will be a banner year for our sports exposure to corporate America and a greater untapped fan base.

2) Our 5 race 2006 series will pay more than $135,000 of purse money in TWO classes. Our affiliate Hillclimbs, The East West Challenge in Indiana and The World Trophy in Decazeville France will add another $60,000 plus to the competitor’s paychecks. We anticipate having a year end rider contingency fund as well, with a formal announcement coming prior to our opening round in Tracy.

3) Top 10 riders in each class will receive our traditional custom number plate wall plaques and our 2 class champions will each receive a 2006 Team Peterson Racing Products 125cc Pro-Series Pit Bike.

4) Pre-qualified riders will now be limited to the top 5 in each class.

5) Chains and bolts will be allowed at the promoters discretion. This change made in an effort to bring back an element of our sport that had huge fan appeal and is still utilized in A.M.A. and European competition.

6) There is a new online membership and event sign up service, Sports Base Online, to provide the best and quickest method of registering for our competitors. Just click registration on the N.A.H.A. website for your new simplified process of membership and event entries. This service was well received when presented to the promoters and has proven to be very user friendly based on competitor feedback.

7) We have purchased new state of the art timing and laser footage systems for more accurate and timely scoring of competition.

These are just some of the highlights of what to expect from the N.A.H.A. in 2006. We welcome competitors and fans from all Hillclimb series to come and experience the excitement, enthusiasm and professional competition at our five 2006 events. Nascar has Nextel Cup, open wheel racing has Formula One, drag racing has the N.H.R.A, motocross and supercross has A.M.A. and motorcycle Hillclimbing has the North American Hillclimb Association. These are the "BIG SHOWS" in their respective forms of motor racing. All of the National and International champions compete in the N.A.H.A., so as a competitor if you are interested in seeing how you match up with the Tony Stewart's, Michael Schumacher's, John Force's or Ricky Carmichaels of Hillclimbing, come racing with us. As a spectator it is the only series that you will see true "WORKS" bikes with unlimited displacement burning exotic fuels and throwing 50 foot roosts from a chained or bolted rear wheel.
