Utah’s Brandon Whitlock
proved to be the fastest rider at the fourth annual Glen Helen
Hillclimb National this past weekend in San Bernardino, CA.
After scoring the fastest time of the day with a 10.984-second
run, Whitlock backed it up by winning the King of the Hill
honors, a special event that takes the top five riders from each
class into a one-round winner-take all race For his efforts,
Whitlock took home the largest portion of the $15,000 prize
money.
Corey Erhardt scored the win in the 451-700cc class while Jason
Smith edged our Erhardt to claim victory in the 450cc class.
“I thought it was a really good event,” said multi-time champion
Kerry Peterson. “We had a record amount of spectators, and the
new hill for the event at Glen Helen really worked out well for
the competition.”
“It wasn’t a very technical hill, but you couldn’t afford to
make any mistakes to be competitive. Finesse was definitely the
key today. The top five riders were all less than a half a
second apart, and that’s when you know you have competitive
racing.”
